EQUINE SERA: EIA – Equine Infectious Anaemia
BACTERIOPHAGUS: Investigations in cultures using E coli type K-12
HEMOGLOBIN: The concentration is determined by the colorimetric method through the measurement of peroxidase using the ortho-toluidine.
PROTEIN ELECTROPHRORESIS: Evaluated in cellulose acetate strips and barbital buffer, pH 8.6.
CELL CULTURE TESTS: Sera are tested in concentrations ranging from 5 to 30%, with the purpose to promote splitting of 10 subcultures generations.
OSMOLARITY: It is measured and compared with the fusing point of water and other standard solutions, which is 0°C for water and -1.858°C for a saline solution of 1mOsm/KgH2O.
HEAT INACTIVATION: Serum is inactivated at 56°C for 30 minutes.
SPECIFICATION: Each serum is tested as a supplement of medium growing. The selection of the serum is related to:
· Type of cellular lineage
· Type of culture
· Chemical composition of the medium
· Objects of investigations and utilization
PRESENTATION : Bottles of 100 and 500 ml
SHELF LIFE : Two (02) years
STORAGE: at - 20°C. Avoid multiple freeze-thaws. If these conditions were not maintained, changes in serum quality may occur.

The collection, handling, processing and storage are conducted in a way to maintain serum properties and quality. Each lot is accompanied by a certificate containing the dada from biochemical tests that were made in the serum.
SOURCE: Serum lots are originated of coagulated blood from official abattoirs.
COLLECTION METHOD: Sera are aseptically collected by heart or vessel puncture.
SIZE OF FINAL FILTER: All sera are filtrated in at least three acetate cellulose membranes of less than 0.22µm.
STERILITY: Sera lots are tested to detect the presence of bacteria, fungi and other foreign agents.
MYCOPLASM : Lots are tested for the presence of Mycoplasm, in liquid and solid medium for 14 days. Positive controls are inoculated in parallel culture.
SEARCH OF VIRAL AGENTS:
BOVINE SERA: BVD – Bovine Viral Diarrhea, IBR – Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis, P13 - Parainfluenza Type 3 Antibody, Anti-Via, Aphthous Fever. |
